Detectives from the DCI Homicide Bureau, working alongside experts from the National Forensic Laboratory, are leading a meticulous investigation into the shooting of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu along Magadi Road in Nairobi.

In a statement on Wednesday, the DCI said critical evidence is being collected to reconstruct the events and identify those responsible.

Mbobu, a Nairobi-based lawyer, was shot in his car on Tuesday as he drove home.

He served as the former chairman of the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal and was also a law lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

According to witnesses and police, the attack occurred while he was stuck in a traffic jam when gunmen riding a motorcycle approached his vehicle.

Police reported that the gunmen shattered his windshield before shooting him at least three times in the chin.

The DCI, in their statement, said the incident was immediately reported to authorities, prompting a rapid response from a team under the leadership of RCIO Nairobi, who secured the scene to preserve all potential evidence.

Detectives from the DCI Homicide Bureau, supported by forensic experts, carried out a careful examination of the area, gathering critical evidence essential for understanding how the crime unfolded.

“Our investigators are working diligently, employing all available resources and expertise to piece together the events surrounding this incident,” the DCI said.

In addition, the DCI has called for public cooperation, asking anyone with relevant information to report to the nearest police station, call the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free number 0800 722 203, or send details confidentially via WhatsApp to 0709 570 000.

The DCI assured that updates on the investigation will be shared at an appropriate time, reaffirming its commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring that Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu’s case is resolved.
